Shopping

Leeds is a mecca for shopping and has been voted the best UK city for shopping by the Rough Guide to the UK, so make the most of it and enjoy some retail therapy while you’re here.

Leeds is the third largest shopping destination in the UK outside London and boasts a seductive combination of new shopping developments, Victorian shopping arcades and one of the largest covered markets in Europe. There are over 1,000 shops in the city centre, all within walking distance, which makes shopping here a wonderfully diverse and memorable experience which caters to every taste.

For those looking to leave with a touch of luxury, head to the Victoria Leeds; home to Victoria Quarter and Leeds' newest additionion to the retail scene, aspirational retail destination Victoria Gate, home to a range of designer brands, including 17 new to Leeds. Enjoy a shopping experience within architectural splendour, which boasts names such as Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, Jo Malone, Harvey Nichols, and home to the largest John Lewis department store outside London.

Trinity Leeds is another popular shopping destination, as  in addition to being home to over 120 of your favourite high-street shops, restaurants and bars, it houses the impressive 15 metre ‘Equus’ sculpture by Andy Scott, under its iconic domed glass roof.

If it’s independent boutiques you’re looking for, then Leeds Corn Exchange, Kirkgate Quarter and the city’s arcades are for you. Home to a number of individual boutiques, Leeds’ burgeoning independent scene is nowhere more apparent than in this Grade I listed building. Leeds Corn Exchange is also home to a range of tasty eateries and regularly hosts vintage fairs and record markets.
