British Triathlon launch major event volunteering opportunities for 2022

Volunteering provides a great opportunity to be part of and contribute to the success of swim, bike, run events with a range of roles available from engaging with spectators, working with media and marshalling routes as the athletes compete.

This year will see British Triathlon host a World Triathlon Championship Series race in Leeds in June, before a World Triathlon Para Series race in Swansea in August and its own domestic Super Series Grand Final in Sunderland later that month.

The two new events in Swansea and Sunderland add to the already successful and world-leading event in Leeds, with all three now open for volunteers to register to be part of the events.

Jonny Hamp, British Triathlon’s Director of Events said; “Volunteering plays a major part in the success of all of our events as well as providing valuable and rewarding experiences for those involved. We’re really looking forward to welcoming hundreds of volunteers to be part of our major events this year and would like to say thank you in advance to all those who sign up.”

As part of the delivery team, volunteers play a crucial role in providing great experiences for all those who engage with the event, from participants and elite athletes to coaches, spectators and the media.

World Triathlon Championship Series Leeds is back for the sixth time and will once again see all the races start and finish in Roundhay Park.

The event, taking place on 11 and 12 June, will host TriStar racing for participants aged 11-14, open races at GO TRI, sprint and standard distances and British Triathlon Super Series racing alongside elite individual and mixed relay racing.

A highlight of the international triathlon calendar, the event in Leeds sees thousands of participants swim, bike, run across two days of action, with volunteer opportunities available in all aspects of the event.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to contribute to the journey of athletes at various levels, but also a chance to develop key personal skills like team work, customer service and handling positions of responsibility.

Get involved with volunteering at one, two or all three of these events by visiting the volunteer sign up page here.
