The schedule for this year’s edition of the ITU World Triathlon Leeds event on 9 and 10 June 2018 has been released today.
The much-anticipated UK Sport National Lottery-funded event, organised by British Triathlon in partnership with Leeds City Council and the International Triathlon Union (ITU), has confirmed the elite women will begin the ITU World Triathlon Series racing at 13:06 on Sunday 10 June closely followed by the men’s race including local heroes Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee at 15:51.
The world’s elite will provide a thrilling finale to a weekend of triathlon which celebrates every aspect of the sport from first timers through to experienced age-group competitors aiming for British titles action in Leeds.
On Saturday 9 June, the action will take place entirely within Roundhay Park with the nation’s next generation of triathlete’s aged 11-14 taking part in the sold out TriStar races and the best Youth and Junior triathletes racing in the third leg of the 2018 British Triathlon Youth and Junior Super Series.
Following in the TriStar triathletes footsteps will be hundreds of first-timers all taking part in the GO TRI event aimed at making triathlon fun, low-cost and accessible for all. The final event of the Saturday schedule will be the newest addition to the 2018 schedule, the SH2OUT swim.
On Sunday 10 June, Great Britain’s top age-group triathletes will race for the coveted British Age-Group Standard Distance Triathlon Championships as well as competing for a place on the Great Britain Age-Group Team at the 2019 ETU Triathlon European Championships. Standard and sprint distance events both offer the unique opportunity to race from Roundhay Park into the city centre on closed roads with an unforgettable blue carpet finish in front of the grandstand in Millennium Square.
